Emma Murphy MIACP

Hi, I’m Emma Murphy, CEO of Connected Health Training.

Connected Health Training came into being as the result of my 12 years experience of working as a Psychotherapist in private practice, specialising in Disordered Eating.

For years I worked in private practice with clients on all parts of the disordered eating spectrum – from a 5.5 stone client with anorexia who refused to go to inpatient treatment to a morbidly obese client who had two-thirds of her stomach removed before she came to counselling, and everything in between.

Being a ‘Can Do’ solution focused therapist, through identifying common themes, patterns and even personality types,  I developed Eating Freely – a program specifically for emotional and binge-eating – and successfully used it with hundreds of my own clients.  But as I got busier, I got more burned out, and I needed other professionals to refer clients to, but there was nobody else working in this significantly underserved, and in-demand area!

So, with my Can-Do hat on, in 2017 I began training other therapists in my Eating Freely Program. As the word spread, I began to get enquiries from other professionals – Health Coaches and Nutritional Therapists – who also wanted to do this training.

Through training Coaches and NT’s, I then realised there was a significant gap in many nutrition and health coach training programs – although they could identify client problems, set goals and draw up a plan to get the client from A to B, the missing piece was the psychology of change!  Many coaches we spoke to were frustrated because ‘clients don’t follow the program’, or their results were inconsistent. Others had spend thousands of dollars on a health or nutrition coach course, but had not been able to translate that training into a thriving practice – many had dropped coaching and returned to their previous work or career.

As a mental health professional, I also had a mandate to complete 30 hours of CPD / CEU training per year. And like everyone else, I had attended my fair share of low quality training that never got integrated into my practice, it simply gave me the CEU credits I needed for the year with no return on my investment.

Connected Health Training is the result of my experience and passion to contribute to the professional development of the coaching industry.  My team and I are dedicated to ensuring we deliver the highest quality, accredited, evidence-based training to Coaches and Therapists, AND that you can then take that training and apply it immediately to your client work – getting that all important tangible return on your investment.
